Your information (POPIA)
Doug Ford t/a Doug Ford Signs, a sole proprietor, of 14 Turf Club Street, Turffontein, Johannesburg South, 2190, is responsible for the personal information you give us. We follow the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

What we collect
Your name, company, email address, phone number and, when you'd like delivery or fitting, an address. We also keep the artwork and files you send, and the details of your quotes, orders and invoices.
Your name, email and phone number are needed for us to quote and reply; your other details are optional. Without them we can't quote for you or get back to you.
Why
To quote, make, deliver, fit and invoice your job, to reply to your enquiries, and to keep this website secure. We don't send marketing unless you ask us to, and we never sell your information.
Where it's kept, and for how long
On our hosting in South Africa, and only for as long as we need it:
- Files uploaded but never sent with an enquiry are deleted after a day.
- Artwork you send is deleted once your job is finished and paid, or 30 days after an enquiry or quote ends without a job.
- An enquiry that doesn't become a job is deleted three months after it came in or we last dealt with it, whichever is later.
- Quotes, invoices, credit notes and client records are kept for five years after the last invoice, payment or change, as tax law requires, and then deleted. Nothing is deleted while money is owed or a job is still open.
- The IP address we keep with an enquiry, an uploaded file or your answer on a quotation page is deleted after a year.
Copies also sit in our backups, which we delete in turn: weekly ones after 13 weeks, monthly ones after five years.
Who else sees it
Only the companies that host our website and email, and only to run them, plus anyone the law requires us to share it with. If you allow visitor statistics on this website, Google and Microsoft see how you use it, as described under This website.
Your rights
You can ask whether we hold information about you and see it, have it corrected, ask us to delete what we don't have to keep, and object to us using your information. Email shadow@dougfordsigns.co.za. Our PAIA manual explains how to ask for records, and what we hold.

This website
This website's pages, fonts and photos all come from our own server. The one exception is the tool that makes your quotation PDF, which loads from cdnjs, a public library host. Our server records IP addresses to stop spam and abuse, and keeps them for up to a year. When you accept a quotation online, your name, the time and the address you accepted from are kept with it as a record; the address is deleted after a year.
Your quotation and invoice
Download your quotation and invoice from the link we email you. Links work until three months after the job closes; ask us for a copy any time within five years.
Quotations are for the signs only, collected from our workshop, unless the quotation says otherwise.
Paying us
Pay by EFT to the bank account printed on our invoice, or by card or cash at the workshop. We never change our banking details by email: if an email says we have, call us on 011 683 4080 before you pay.
Visitor statistics (Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity)
We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity only if you allow them. Until you choose Allow analytics, nothing is loaded from Google or Microsoft and no analytics cookie is set. If you allow it, Google Analytics sets two cookies (named _ga and _ga_F49X31Y14T) that let us count visits and see which pages help people find us, which links they use to call, WhatsApp or email us, and whether our forms work. It records the pages you view, the website that sent you, your device and browser, and roughly where you are (town or city, worked out from your IP address, which Google doesn't store).
Microsoft Clarity shows us how pages are used: where people click, how far they scroll, and anonymous replays of visits, so we can see what's confusing. It hides what you type, and it never runs on your quotation page. It sets cookies named _clck and _clsk. Microsoft keeps replays for 30 days and the summary statistics for up to 13 months, and may process them outside South Africa under its own data protection terms.
We never send Google or Microsoft your name, phone number, email address, the details you type into our forms, or the link to your quotation. We don't use advertising cookies, Google signals or remarketing. Google keeps the statistics for 14 months, and may process them outside South Africa under its own data protection terms.
Your choice is remembered in your browser for a year. You can change it at any time: , or use Cookie settings at the foot of every page.
